Suppliers will no longer be registered at the municipality and are requested to self-register directly on the CSD by accessing the National Treasury website at www.secure.csd.gov.za

Fire Hydrants
The //Khara Hais municipality is calling on the public to take ownership of the underground fire hydrants located near their properties. A Fire Hydrant is a permanent underground water supply unit which is used to fight fires. The fire hydrant comes in handy in case of a fire in a particular locality. We should prevent the removal of the lids of the fire hydrants and littering of foreign material into the manholes. We call on the community to report those who vandalise fire hydrants on (054) 338 7000.
Northern Cape Communication Summit – Kuruman
The South African Local Government Association, SALGA, in the Northern Cape recently held a summit on Communications in Kuruman. The summit was attended by communicators from municipalities, councillors, Speakers and Mayors. It was aimed at improving communications in municipalities. The summit recommended that municipalities appoint communicators as soon as 2015 so as to communicate effectively to the residents. The summit also recommended that municipalities budget for communications and put structures in place that will support communication activities.
The Mayors Carols by Candlelight Event
The //Khara Hais Municipality recently held its annual carols by candlelight event. The event is preceded by a kids park event. The kids of the municipal area are gathered infront of the municipal head office and they are entertained by father Christmas and other storybook characters. They are also spoiled with gifts.
The Mayors Prayer Event
The Mayor recently held prayer sessions at the entrances of Upington. The sessions were organised by the Municipality and the church fraternity. They prayed for a safe festive season and for safety on the roads. The prayers also focused on doing away with drug and alcohol abuse.
Municipality Launches “Operation Vasvat”
The //Khara Hais Municipality recently launched a traffic operation dubbed ‘Operation Vasvat”. Vasvat is an Afrikaans word which refers to firmness.
The operation include the issuing of warrants of arrests to traffic offenders and to make immediate arrests where possible. This operation is aimed at deterring offenders and to take stern action against those who commit traffic offences. The Municipality is calling on people to approach the traffic department in order to pay their outstanding fees.
